FJSummit.org Announces FJSummit Scholarship Awards

Ouray, CO – FJSummit.org, Inc, a not for profit organization made up of like-minded Toyota FJ Cruiser enthusiasts and promoter of Ouray’s 2009 FJSummit off-road event , presented two scholarships to two deserving Ouray High School graduating Seniors.
The 2009 FJSummit Scholarships, are given to two individuals that best exemplify hard work, school spirit, academics and community service. In recognition as outstanding Seniors the scholarships will be awarded to Betsy Stovicek and Kelsey Winfrey at commencement exercises on May 24th at Ouray High School.
Betsy Stovicek, the daughter of Mark and Lynne Stovicek of Ouray, is planning to attend Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Betsy is a true bibliophile. She has not chosen a major yet but will probably major in something related to books. She does not go anywhere without a book and can be seen reading during every spare moment. Betsy has done an internship with the Ouray Public Library.
Kelsey Winfrey, the daughter of Bruce and Wendy Winfrey of Ouray, is planning to attend the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA and majoring in film. She has been taking film classes at Ouray High School for four years. She was chosen to do an internship with the Telluride Mountain Film Festival during the summer of 2008. One of Kelsey’s films was accepted into the Interlochen’s 2009 Future of Cinema International Film Festival this spring.
Ouray HS Counselor, Nancy Kienapfel will be presenting the FJSummit Scholarships. She remarked, “These two students reflect the excellence of Ouray High School and the good citizens of Ouray. Thank you FJSummit and see you in July!”
FJSummit.org, Inc. also contributes to Ouray Police fund, Ouray Mountain Rescue and Ouray Fire Department Fund as well as Tread Lightly, a national organization promoting earth friendly, off-roading philosophy.
